2017 ADA NC Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I register my team for the National Championship?
A: On-line at the ADA Web Site. Registration deadline: Monday, June 26th, 2017. The captain of your team must have Internet access with an email address and a credit card. After filling out and submitting the on-line registration form you will be directed to a certification statement web page. Entry fees will be paid online using Visa, Master Card or Discover Card or can be mailed with a money order made payable to the “American Darters Association”. If none of your team members have Internet access, contact your ADA League Manager or ADA Representative for assistance.  On-line Registration Link coming soon.

Q: I am sharing a room at the Sheraton Westport with someone from another team, can both our teams get credit for the room to qualify for the National Championship?
A: NO. Each team must have their own guest room in the ADA block of rooms for at least three nights during the National Championship to qualify (except local teams from the St. Louis, MO area). See addendum in the eligibility rules.

Q: My League Team is unable to attend the National Championship, however some friends from other teams and I want to attend and compete, is there any way?
A: Yes. Eligible ADA members (see the eligibility rules) can “build” a team for the National Championship in either the Open or Neutralizer Formats.

Q: I play on a six person Neutralizer® team in local league, and only five of us want to go. What do we do?
A: A minimum of four members is required for the Team League format. Check the Opening Roster Rule (ORR) to verify your five person team is eligible. Your team PPDA total must be:

4 members – 80 PPDA
5 members – 100 PPDA
6 members – 120 PPDA
Steel-tip:
4 members – 68 PPDA
5 members – 85 PPDA
6 members – 102 PPDA

Q: I play on a Neutralizer® team. What PPDA will I be using at the National Championship?
A: The highest average from one of the following categories:

True PPDA from May 16, 2016 through July 1, 2017.
Last year’s ending National Championship PPDA.
In addition:

The ADA also takes under advisement any local League Management and National Skill Level Review Board recommendations.
Finally, the ADA has the authority to adjust a member’s average.
Q: Our Neutralizer® team exceeds the Opening Roster Rule. Are we ineligible?
A: Yes, but only for the Neutralizer® Team & Express events. However your team is still be eligible to compete in the Open format team event.  You can move back to the Neutralizer format after the Thursday team event.  ***New*** if your TRUE average coming into Nationals is a 30.01 or higher you will automatically be placed in the Open Singles format on Friday if you have pre-registered for the event.

Q: One of our Open Express League team members can’t attend the National Championship; can we use a “sub”?
A: Yes, as long as they meet all other eligibility requirements. See eligibility rules on the website. Team changes must be submitted in writing prior to 7:00 PM on Wednesday July 26th.

Q: My team cannot come to the National Championship, can I participate in any of the events?
A: Yes, all ADA members can compete in ALL Draw Doubles, Warm Up Events and any ADA satellite events. Non-ADA members must purchase an ADA membership to compete.

Q: I play on a Neutralizer team, but am registering on an Open format team. Can I play in any Neutralizer® events?
A: Yes, but you must have a qualifying Neutralizer® PPDA.  ***New*** if your TRUE average coming into Nationals is a 30.01 or higher you will automatically be placed in the Open Singles format on Friday.

Q: I understand pre-registration is for the Team event and Friday’s Singles events. When do we register for the other events?
A: Registration for all other events will begin on Wednesday, July 26th 2017 and conclude on Saturday, July 29th 2017. ***New*** Registration will close for the following days events, the night before.  We suggest you register for all events upon arrival.

Q: All I play in local league is the Doubles League format. Will this type of league make me eligible for the National Championship team events on Thursday?
A: Yes. You must have at least forty (40) __01 games in from local league play, however, your team must compete in the Open format.

Q: Can I cross over Dart Types and/or Dart Formats at the ADA National Championship?
A: Yes. But only on Saturday and Sunday. Example: Soft Tip to Steel Tip or Steel Tip to Soft Tip. Providing you have a PPDA in each dart type. You also have a choice to cross over with the dart format. Example: from Neutralizer events to Open events. Open to Neutralizer providing you have a PPDA in the Nationals Tournament Software. NOTE: When you move out of your original preregistered dart type (Team or Singles) and/or dart format (Open or Neutralizer) you will forfeit all Most Valuable Member Points in those events that you cross into.  ***New*** if your TRUE average coming into Nationals is a 30.01 or higher you will automatically be placed in the Open Singles format on Friday.

Q: Can I still sign up for ’01 Singles after the cutoff date even though I didn’t sign up when my team pre-registered online?
A: Yes. You can sign up for ’01 Singles at the nationals registration desk for $40 with an additional $15 late entry fee. ***New*** if your TRUE average coming into Nationals is a 30.01 or higher you will automatically be placed in the Open Singles format on Friday.
