An historic event takes place July 3-6 as Fox Sports World will broadcast live the Las Vegas Desert Classic Darts Tournament! ADA President, Glenn Remick is attending and reports, "I've waited 33 years for this day. This is a giant step forward for the ADA and our sport of darts." Thirteen ADA members competed, unfortunately none made the staged quarter finals competition. Glenn adds, "It would have been nice to have one of them on stage and on Fox Sports World, regardless I'm very proud of their performance. And so is AmberBock. In addition to providing ADA members AmberBock uniforms Anheuser-Busch is also throwing them a party on Saturday!" Look for photos as soon as Glenn returns next week.
Hosted by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), the Las Vegas Desert Classic is the largest English steel tip tournament ever held in the United States awarding $120,000 in prize money to the top 16 men and top 8 women qualifiers. Go to the Fox Sports World web site for the scheduled television programming times of the Desert Classic: www.foxsportsworld.com For daily reports on the tournament go to the PDC web site located at: www.planetdarts.co.uk
Earlier this year the ADA and PDC reached an agreement that will send an ADA member to England to compete in the PDC's Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship held in December. Now the biggest darts World Championship on the planet, the PDC's flagship event has a global TV audience of over 10 million viewers, the largest prize fund of any darts event anywhere and an atmosphere unrivaled in the sport.
