Expanding The ADA To The Great Northwest
By Glenn Remick & Erick McVay

The excitement of darts coming to television and the role the ADA will play in it continues to build. The recent NY Times article continues to provide us some great leads!  Since late last month I’ve had the pleasure of working with Erik McVay and the South East Washington Area (SEWA-Darts) darters to develop our first American Dart League division in his market. SEWA-Darts organized the first Mid-Columbia Open and, with cooperation from their local Anheuser-Busch wholesaler, King Beverage, the event was a huge success. Below is a report from Erik:

The Mid-Columbia Open, held in southeast Washington State, has come and gone and all that remains are the memories, trophies and desire to do it all again soon!  And though I may be a little biased, I truly think it was the hands down best dart tournament I’ve been to in the last three years – period!  I mean it!

Photo: Amberbock Dartboard winner Steve ArionusThe atmosphere at the Richland, WA Tri-Cities Elks Lodge was fantastic!  The food and beverages were equal to the task (not to mention the prices) and as dart players entered the club they were greeted with flyers, banners and all manner of items they could win or purchase. There was the feel you get when you go to a major league ballgame and a major beer company is sponsoring it – Michelob AmberBock in our case – with prizes, good tasting beer (really good tasting if beer sales are anything to judge by) and banners to greet the dart players.

As you might have guessed, the American Darters Association (ADA) and Michelob AmberBock really came through, and elevated the atmosphere (I liked the pint glasses and won two!). Did I mention the great beer enough yet?  Stop by www.adadarters.com/ and check out the ADA, Glenn Remick must be the most motivated and energetic darts promoter out there (besides me of course). You can also check out Michelob AmberBock beer at your local pub -- its good stuff!

If this event and cooperation is any indication of what you can expect when getting involved with the ADA, then I have to ask only one question:  Where do I sign up?! ?
