March 2008
Pro Darter News
Budweiser Pro Tour
By Glenn Remick, Pres. ADA, ADA Franchisees, Roberta Butler, TX, Bill Dales MO, Rex Best, CO and Karl Remick, MO

I reported last month how much fun the Budweiser Pro Tour was.  I’m pleased to report the same thing happened in the month of March!   With the support of Anheuser-Busch wholesalers who select the locations and provide the great Budweiser prizes.   Organized and directed by ADA officials we welcome all darts players to attend.  And who wouldn’t?  With no entry fee participants receive an attendance prize just for entering.  Then additional prizes are awarded at random throughout the evening.

On the competitive side members and darters are paired at random to compete against our Pros.  501 straight start, double out is the game.  On the soft tip side the bull’s-eye is “activated” (split bull) as it is in American Dart League Open divisional play.  The Pros darts are tracked to provide a points per dart average at the end of the evening.  Teams that defeat the Pros playoff for two Grand Prizes.

The program continues to expand nationwide so make plans to attend.  All Bud Pro Tour events take place the last Wednesday of each month.  Locations are found on the home page at the “Upcoming Events” section.

The ADA is the only national darts organization to produce Certified Professional Darters.  Sure there are “self-proclaimed” Pros, lots of them.  Then there are dart machine Pro’s (you can only be a pro playing on their machines).  ADA Pros qualify by playing year-round in the American Dart League at their local host tavern.  Wanna be an ADA Certified Pro?  Check out the Rules and Regulations located at the following ADA web site link:

A torrential downpour did not prevent over 24 darters from attending the March Bud Pro Tour at Buckets in Dardenne Prairie, MO.  ADA Pro's Duane Timmerman & Deb Kornmann finished the night with a winning soft tip record of 11 – 8.   Duane's finished the evening with a 20.00 PPDA and Dab’s 15.46 PPDA.  The eight teams that defeated the Pros played off with Bob Smith and Robbie Buckets claiming the grand prizes!  Congratulations everyone who attended!  The next St. Charles County “Tour” location has not been determined but will take place on Wednesday April the 30th.  Scheduled Pro's are Glenn Remick and Duane Timmermann.  For more information contact Karl Remick: karlremick@peoplepc.com

Bud Pro Tour: Lewisville, TX
Host Location: Canucks
Attending ADA Official: Texas ADA Franchisee, Roberta Butler
ADA Steel Tip Professionals: Kimberly Crisman 12.7 Christine Weiman 12.7 (Starting Averages)

By Roberta Butler

Our new 2008 lady Texas ADA Certified Professional Dart players continued to shine at the 2nd Budweiser Pro Challenge in the greater Dallas area in Lewisville Texas located 10 miles north of Dallas.

Canucks Tavern, a long time ADA supporter, hosted this event.  Three of our newly qualified Texas ADA Dart Pro’s, Christine Weiman, Kim Chrisman, and April Stafford attended. The competition was fierce but our two playing Pro’s, Christine Weiman and Kim Crisman demonstrated their professional skills by winning 7 of 10 (70%) of the matches from all challengers. Kim Crisman shot exceptional darts in tossing a ton or better in 10 games.

Everyone had an outstanding night of darts and even Canucks owner, Monica Thompson got in on the competition. Our local Budweiser wholesaler and sponsor, Ben E. Keith Beers, contributed premium items to all in attendance.

Canucks owners, Monica Thompson and Becky East were very pleased with the event and provided additional prizes to any of the doubles teams that beat the ADA Pros. Canucks provided T-Shirts, key chains and a $25 give certificate to the winners. All in all the event was outstanding with every Pro challenger receiving a prize.

The Bud Pro challenge continues to grow in the North Dallas area with the next Bud Pro Tour challenge to be held in April at Legend’s Tavern in Highland Village Texas. Check the ADA web site, www.adadarters.com, for dates and details.

Bud Pro Tour: St. Louis, MO
Host Location: The Ugly Fish
Attending ADA Official: St. Louis Franchisee Bill Dales
ADA Soft Tip Professionals: Brad Meyer and Mike Willis

Bill Dales, reporting

The Ugly Fish (4050 Bamberger) in South St. Louis City played host to the Bud Pro Tour and featured ADA Pros Brad Meyer and Mike Willis.  Challenging 17 different doubles teams and tossing darts for over 3 hrs 20 minutes straight (ok, they went to the facilities twice each). This night 3 squads proved that they had what it takes to defeat the ADA Certified Professional darters. (Yes 14-3 for the evening and all losses involved.....5 other local A.D.A professionals.)

All in attendance received Budweiser Premiums w/ the 3 winning pairs also leaving w/ a set of Budweiser darts as well.

A final tally: Brad threw a 24.837 ppda and Mike followed close behind w/ 23.416 ppda.

Special thanks to Steve Lato, The Ugly Fish staff and again Anheuser-Busch wholesaler Lohr Dist. for your efforts in making yet another last Wed. night of the month Bud Pro Dart Challenge a rapidly growing event and a huge success!!!!!!!

See you the last Wednesday in April as the ADA Bud Pro Challenge moves its way to a St. Louis County venue. Watch the Upcoming Events calendar for full details.
