The "ADA web site time clock" is set and with spring upon us we are now focusing our attention to the ADA's 18th National Championship. We bid a fond farewell to Orlando, the site of last year's event, and look forward to bringing the Championship back to mid America and to the city of St. Louis, Missouri August 4th-9th.
Many of our members make the Championship part of their vacation and we’ve got some great plans for them . For those of you who arrive just to play darts you won’t be disappointed. In addition to the Championship events we’ve added five draw doubles events plus the return of the Budweiser “Mini-tournaments”. I’ll take this moment to provide some additional information.
Renaissance Hotel
The Renaissance Hotel will host the Championship and it is conveniently located less than a mile from Lambert International Airport and only a quarter of a mile from Interstate 70. The hotel just finished renovations and we’ve negotiated a great room rate of $90.00 plus tax. For additional information check them out at the following link:

Championship Events
We’ve rearranged existing events and added several new ones. New/added events:
- AB Brewery Tour, Laclede Landing Pub Crawl & Lumiere Place Casino
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday night draw doubles
- Sunday Division Representative event
- Sunday Open Doubles
Prize pay out on the above events is based on entries. The new Division Rep event extends a “thank you” for our members joining the ADA management team and assisting our League Managers throughout the year. We’re working on additional prizes for this event. Sunday’s Open Doubles is an event for existing American Dart League members plus any new members. So there will be seven events for non American Dart League darters coming to the Championship:
- Five draw doubles (Tuesday to Saturday)
- Warm-up singles cricket (Wednesday)
- Open Doubles (Sunday)
Tuesday events are designed for vacationing out of town members and metro St. Louis area members who want to party! A mini-coach has been chartered leaving the Renaissance for a VIP tour of the AB Brewery. Then off to Laclede Landing a downtown historical location located on the banks of the Mississippi River. There will be three events during at this stop:
The tour concludes back at the Renaissance for the Championships first draw doubles. Additional info will be listed on the ADA web site link for these events.
American Dart League Championship Events
We’ve made some major changes to Championship events. The singles events have been shifted from Sunday to Friday. Championship veterans may remember the singles followed the Team and Express events when we started the Championship 17 years ago. Mixed Triples & Mixed Doubles will be played on Sunday. Men’s & Women’s doubles will be played on Saturday. In the Team & Express League events there will be no finals presentations so the finals of each will be played at the conclusion of the respective event. The Seeded/Pro Lounge opens at noon on Friday.
Non-Championship Events
Military Cup Challenge
This event is the US Military’s only darting event for active, retired and guard/reserve soldiers. This event is held on Thursday.
Professional Darter Championship
There are two events; Pro Darters Singles and the Pro/Am Doubles. This event takes place on Wednesday.
Budweiser "Mini Draw Doubles".
A series of draw doubles will be organized for those members "knocked out" of events. Cash plus Budweiser prizes will be awarded as prizes.
Sponsorship
We are glad to bring back many of the same sponsors from last year. We certainly appreciate their support however in lieu of the recessionary times they have reduced their commitment to this Championship. Sadly it is all part of what is happening with our grim economic recessionary times. We happy to add Harrah’s as the “Official Casino”. The casino is located less than 10 miles from the Renaissance Hotel. Coaches will provide transportation and they have developed discounts for members and guests.
Prize Money
Over $50,000 will be awarded in guaranteed cash prizes. With seven events paying cash based on entries the total prizes will be much higher.
Enrolling is easy. American Dart League Team Captains can register their teams at the ADA web site. Hotel reservations can also be made at the following ADA web site link: www.adadarters.com/series/2009/nc/index.html
The gateway to the west hosts the ADA National Championship,
including the 18th year of great competitive darts, Pro Singles Champions and a lot of new friendships. The count down has begun,
we look forward to seeing you in the Show Me State in August!
