The 18th ADA National Championship. Please make a note….this is not a darts tournament! Sure you’ll get to toss a lot of darts in fact there are 40 events to compete in but there is so much more. The city of St. Louis is our host and a great place for our event. Many members make it part of their vacation and there is plenty to do. Extending the visit during these recessionary times is an added expense and we’re glad to help out with a great room rate under $100. at a luxury hotel. The Renaissance Hotel is right on Interstate 70 very close to Lambert International Airport (a free hotel shuttle brings you to the lobby).
Taking place August 4-9 and sponsored by Budweiser the Championship has a $50,000 total purse, but I know the veterans of past years aren’t coming just for the money and neither are the rookies. Certainly they won’t turn the money away however these members look forward to heading back home with the “wood” claiming to be the best ADA league members in the country…..braggin rights for the entire year! Remember only qualified American Dart League (ADL) members can enter into “league sanctioned” events. These daily events take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
So American Dart League sanctioned events during the day and then the “party” darts at night. Five evening draw doubles begin on Tuesday ending Saturday. Blind draws are a great “party” event. You enter into a doubles event not knowing who your partner is. Our customized software selects your partner. To enter bring your darts and a membership card. Not an ADA member? You can enroll at the Championship. Annual ADA memberships are $20. but are “on sale” at the Championship for $10.
Tuesday and Wednesday are party days. Tuesday afternoon is a tour of the Anheuser-Busch Brewery then over to Laclede’s Landing. The Landing is located on the banks of the Mississippi River and is between the Gateway Arch and Lumiere Place Casino. So you have three hours of touring the Arch, enjoying the pubs of the Landing or testing your gambling skills at the casino. Then back to the hotel for the first draw doubles. Twenty dollars will reserve your seat on the bus!
Wednesday is Championship pre-registration cricket singles and the Pro Championship. Wednesday night is the second draw doubles. Wrapping up the Championship on Sunday is the Mixed Doubles & Mixed Triples. In the afternoon we’ve added two new events; the Division Representatives singles and a doubles events for new and existing members.
Earlier I mentioned the “veterans” from past Championship years. The ADA National Championship is a reunion. Old friends and remembrances; new friends and definitely a real party atmosphere - It is all there. Add the pleasure of darts competition, talk and tips on the sport. It takes place every year, we come together to celebrate our sport, our organization and most importantly, our friendships.
The 18th ADA National Championship…..don’t call it a Tournament!
