Right off Route 9, around the bend, on the side of the street is a establishment called McFadden’s. A great northeast pub located in Williamsburg, MA. McFadden's is known for their delicious lemon haddock, the huge ruben sandwich, homemade chips and offering Samuel Adams Seasonal beer! Along with their great food, they have a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere where a dart tournament was held on Friday night, June 4th. It was not just any dart tournament it was a tournament in the honor of a great man & dart champion, Glenn Remick.
Glenn Remick was considered the father and co-founder of darts within the area. He formed the Western Mass Dart Association (WMDA) back in 1977 along with his wife Gloria, deceased brother Gary & wife Dale, deceased sister Gayle and a lot of help from family, friends & location sponsors. That led to his career in the sport of darts.

Tournament director Gordy Swift contacted son of Glenn, Karl Remick right after Glenn's passing (Nov 2009) to say he was very interested in getting a night of darts together in honor of his Dad. This night & dart tournament was dedicated to him. Gordy had the help of Jan Bauver, Carl & Candy Smith & Wally Kielb all long time friends & past WMDA members.

The tournament was a success and the room was packed! The night was filled with dart members, old flights, rounds of beers, dart tales, great memories and multiple hat tricks. “I wouldn’t miss this for the world. Glenn was always a great person & friend and always had time to talk!”, says long time friend Mark Brunetti. Mark drove from Baltimore to come to the Friday Night event. Another WMDA Member, Scott Walker drove in from Montreal, Canada. “I haven’t thrown darts in years and if I were to ever again, it would be a start with this event, for Glenn”, adds Scott.

This memorial dart tournament also provided a chance for all the veteran WMDA Members to get back together under one roof and throw side by side once again. "It was great to see all the old WMDA Members wearing their team shirts from years past. One WMDA Member, Dan Arnesault, even dusted off his old 301 Darts & Hobbies sponsored Softball shirt! “, said son of Glenn, Mark Remick. Carl Smith has kept every Darts Across the Sea team shirt since 1982 and brought them all to this event! Carl even took time out of his busy schedule to build two more dart standards to have a total of 4 playing boards.

Gloria Remick, put together a nice layout of photos of Glenn from over the years, his achievements and she even brought his old WMDA Dart Polo to display. Jan Bauver and a couple of others added to the display. Jan brought her scrap book that she started from WMDA day one in 1977 featuring Glenn doing his first interview!

“I had a lot of fun and I hope we can do this next year and make it annual” says Steve Doyle, WMDA Member. One day Steve was on the computer looking up different dart leagues around the country and came across the American Darters Association (ADA), which Glenn built back in 1990. “I was surprised to see Glenn still doing darts after all these years! He has been busy!” Steve adds. Steve is interested in getting the old gang back into an ADA league within their area.
The first ever "Glenn Remick Memorial Dart Tournament" Winners were Glenn’s nephews, Levi and Luke Remick sons of Gary & Dale Remick. They even beat out their brother Logan Remick and Steve Kehler . “It was great to see the younger Remicks coming out on top for first place, the future darters of generations to come, but regardless if they did or not, it was a win /win for everyone that attended and I know Glenn was very proud of all of us” "you could feel his presence in the heart of all those whom attended", comments Gloria.

A special thanks to Tim Kastigir owner of McFadden’s Pub for hosting the event. Thank you Gordy for following through with your thoughtfulness of this memorable event. A Thanks goes out to everyone who participated and traveled to this special event and to the man himself, Glenn Remick for making this all possible by continually bringing people together!
