This past summer the ADA hosted their very first Budweiser Pro Team Challenge, County vs. County. The American Darters Association is the only national organization with Certified Professional Darters. To qualify as an ADA Pro, members must be in good standing for one full calendar year, conform to code of conduct and ethics, play in each quarter of the calendar year, play a minimum of 20 ‘501’ games in the Open Division and meet specific skill qualifications.
With St. Charles and St. Louis being so close to one another in distance but separated by different ADA Representatives, it was decided that a challenge between those areas needed to happen. This event would determine which Eastern Missouri area has the best Pro Darters.
Captain of the St. Charles County team was ADA Rep Karl Remick who led: Duane Timmermann, Mike Hurtwitz and Paul Schaeffler. The ADA Pro’s from South St. Louis were Gary Boyd, Jim Prueshner and Mike Willis and they played under Captain, ADA Rep Billy Dales. The event was held on Saturday July 31st at Jefferson Bistro at 3701 South Jefferson Avenue, in St. Louis MO.

Prior to the event, Karl and Billy got together to created the ultimate line up for this event. The Pros would play three games of Cricket 3 on 3 as well as individual Pro vs Pro 501 Open In – Double Out. The final 13th game was Team 701 Double In – Double Out.
The entry fee per team was $100 and $500 cash was the payout. The Pro’s were randomly drawn and matched up at the ADA office prior to the event. Not only did each Pro have an opportunity to play against the opposing county Pro in a 501 game but they also were teamed up to play 3 man cricket county vs. county games.
Cricket Game 1 went for a total of 7 rounds! St. Charles County was the victor of the game throwing a 5.3 Cricket MPR and St. Louis only hitting a 2.4. Congratulations to Gary Boyd who threw two back to back 15 dart 501 games and added a 180 on the 13th game!!
The total matches lasted just over an hour for all 13 games. The first dart was thrown at 3:37pm and the last game ended at 4:48pm. It was an exciting event with a very close final score of 7 – 6. “You couldn’t ask for a better first Bud Pro Team shoot going all 13 games”, said ADA Rep Billy Dales. The first Pros vs. Pros winning title goes to South City!
Congratulations to all the ADA Pros who competed in this event!
