The New Year of 2011 brings another welcoming addition to the American Darters Association (ADA) that has many members excited! Members can now play on two-person Doubles Leagues!
It all started in 1991 with the 4-6 person Team League. A format that is still very popular in most areas. Then, about 12 years later, the ADA added the fast paced 3 person Express League. ADA Representatives took the Express league a step further and within their individual areas made it unique and created different combinations of Mixed Leagues, all Women’s Leagues and Youth Leagues to name a few.
Now with a new year upon us, the ADA introduces their Doubles League format. The Doubles league offers 11 games total and may increase the competition among our members. The format will include Doubles Cricket games, ’01 Doubles games, and single ’01 games. The Doubles league added singles matches to the equation so both members can play both opposing players. “The Doubles league format is a nice addition to our ADA portfolio. I think our members will enjoy ending their league play with the final game of Doubles 701”, comments ADA Representative Sarah Coyne.
This Doubles format was tested in St. Charles County, MO last month. Some positive changes were made to the original design and feedback from the participants was taken seriously for adjustments to be made. This new Doubles League format will be something new for existing partners, couples and friends to get involved in a fun league program they can do together for a couple hours a week. For some areas it might be easier to find another person who wants to play instead of finding 3, 4, 5 or 6 additional team members.
For Doubles League start ups and guidelines please contact your local ADA Representative for more information.
