The Franklin County Silver Games are an Olympic style competition event held at several venues within Franklin County Missouri. These games promote the health and wellness of men and women 50 years of age and older by providing them opportunities to participate in competitive and social games. More than 100 people volunteered for the 22nd annual event. This year, the Silver Games were held from September 10th – 15th. There were more than 50 events that the seniors could compete in including High Score Challenge on electronic dart machines!
Former ADA President, Glenn Remick started the tradition years ago of volunteering his time by attending and helping out with this event. Since he has passed, Karl Remick, ADA Vice President, has continued the tradition. “This year was really special because I was able to share the experience with my sister Sarah, my brother Mark and his girlfriend Amy. We all had a really great time with the participants and the other volunteers” said Karl. Mark and Amy’s job allows them to take one day off to volunteer at an event of their choosing. Amy said, “I couldn’t have chosen a better event to attend. It was cool to see how competitive they were getting with each other.”
Congratulations to all the participants and the winners within their age divisions. The Silver Game participants receive gold, silver or bronze medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. In addition to the High Score Challenge within the age groups the ADA gave prizes to the overall High Score Challenge Winners for both Male and Female. 1st place received Budweiser ‘Grab Some Buds’ t-shirts and 2nd place received Budweiser Hats.
