What a success!!! The ADA Mid West Regional was a hit! New and existing members are invited to attend the weekend long event and usually participants are made up of members from the local area but this event we had members from all over! Rumors rang true about ADA members from Dallas TX, Virginia, Illinois, St. Charles County, St. Louis and Colorado attending this event! We even had a new Rep from Dodge City Kansas attend! In addition to the large number of local and visiting members who participated there was an extraordinary amount of ADA Representatives in who came to this Regional. Many thanks to all their support, hard work and representing their areas.
The location was perfect! Side Pockets in Blue Springs, MO was large enough for all our members, staff, spectators, and walk-ins. Side Pockets owners Bill Fickle and Paul Hawkins and their staff were amazing. They allowed the ADA staff to “move in” Friday night with all of our tournament equipment, set up and get the events going. We assigned members to every single soft tip dart machines in the bar for the opening Friday Open Draw Doubles event and members were playing until closing time. Side Pockets doesn’t normally open until 11am on Saturday and Sundays but they offered VIP treatment to ADA members by opening at 9am and servicing breakfast buffet. We know that we kept them busy and we appreciate all the hard work that the Side Pockets staff provided us!
Saturday night instead of the traditional blind draw event it was replaced with the Open Bounty Draw Doubles event. This event is new to most members and it is a really fun event to participate in. Like the Open Draw Doubles event you register to play in the event and are randomly drawn with a partner. If you knock out a team with a 2011 ADA Professional on it you get cash back on the spot! The more professionals you knock out the more cash you win. This is such a fun event and allows members to play with or against Professionals. New ADA member Jason Thornbrugh and ADA Professional Gary Boyd took 1st place in this event. Congratulations to both of them!
Sunday was a slower day due to many of our out of town members returning home but for those who stayed there were events throughout the day to participate in and win prize money in. Like the evening before, members had the opportunity to team up with a Professional in the Pro/AM Doubles event. Except this event they got to choose their partner. Congratulations to 1st place team; Colorado ADA Pro Rob Nelson and Kansas City ADA amateur Dawn Bazzell.
In addition to the ADA Soft tip events, Card Parlour darts was also in attendance. The Mid West Regional was Soft tip only events so to have the steel tip board that combines darts and poker was a great edition for members who wanted to check out this fun game. Charlie the Card Parlour dart representative had a high score challenge throughout the weekend. These events were free and open to anyone who wanted to participate. At the end of the weekend the member with the highest score won the board. This Regional’s winner was ADA Kansas City member, Jim Yates with a score of 180. ADA member & Representative from Texas, April Stafford had the second highest score of 145.
Throughout the weekend, members had a chance to win Side Pockets and Budweiser merchandise by participating in the raffles. Two of St. Charles County ADA Division Representatives, Tiffany Paschedag and Ashley Brockman sold tickets throughout the bar to interested members. Congratulations to raffle winners; Richard Lough, Angela Swallow, Rebecca Rainwater and Ryan Crews. Thanks to Side Pockets and Budweiser for supplying darts, t-shirts, flights and rollaway cooler!
