Northern Texas American Darters Association, (NTADA) members have been keeping busy! In addition to playing in their local weekly leagues the members have devoted extra time to fundraising. It’s important to raise money and give members the opportunity to attend the 2012 National Championship in Las Vegas! Our most recent fundraiser endeavor was working the Samsung 500 NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway the weekend of the 13-15 of April.
Twenty nine of the North Texas ADA members participated over a three day period operating two concession stands and one beer stand. It was a unique experience for everyone! For some of the darters it was the first time they ever did any kind of this work. The jobs included working the windows and taking orders by providing customer service but they also did all of the stocking, cooking, serving and cleaning that took place in the stands!
Those members put in some long hours over the three day period but they had a lot of fun! The money earned will go a long way and help with the overall cost of their trip. The money that was raised will be divided among the members that participated and help with the cost of travel, hotel and/or cost of events at the National Championship.
In addition to this latest fundraiser we have also done many other fundraisers that have provided the opportunity to those participating in them to make some extra money to help pay their way. A few of the fundraisers held in our NTADA area have been; candle sales, dart tournaments with raffles, food sales and 50/50 drawings. For Valentine’s Day we held a raffle for a romance package that include a hotel stay, massages and limo transportation to and from dinner.
It’s not just the ADA members from North Texas that participate in the fundraisers. Thanks to all the family members and friends that support us! We hosted a family fun day in the park for Easter that included an egg hunt, BBQ and carnival games to show our appreciation for their support and help.
As of today, our members have raised more than $13,500!!! Several of our members who participated have already managed to fully pay for their attendance at this year’s National Championship event! Even though they have their trips paid for they are still attending fundraising events to help others reach their final goal.
