The highly anticipated soft tip match between Team ADA and Team Silverdart at the 2012 ADA National Championship on Saturday July 16th just wasn’t enough for either team. Moments after Team ADA won the cup there was already talk of a rematch—this one being steel tip! Both teams quickly selected players with the ADA steel tip players consisted of Mark Fair, Stowe Buntz, Mark Hinds, Toby Simko and Vance Sutherland. They decided to compete Sunday evening on the stage in the ADA finals room for this added event.

They played a variety of 501 Singles/Doubles and 2/3 Man Cricket. Team ADA took the lead right away with a 3-0 lead. Team Silverdart took a few wins and at the end the final score was Team ADA 6 Team Silverdart 2. Pennsylvania ADA member Mark Fair commented on this thrown together event by saying, “I was very excited to represent the ADA and was very thankful that they asked me to be a part of the event. I couldn’t have been happier than to throw with 4 other great shooters.”
The ADA steel tip players felt honored that the darters from Spain wanted to play with them and enjoyed adding the event to the weekend. They reported that the atmosphere was more relaxed than the soft tip Team ADA vs. Team Silverdart event the day prior. For the Saturday soft tip event members went through qualification and selection months ago to represent their country. It was a much quieter experience than the party like atmosphere that went on during the steel tip match on Sunday. People were cheering for all the throwers regardless of which team they were playing for. Everyone was there to have a good time and watch good darts.
After ADA took another win which ended the event, Stowe Buntz, ADA member from Virginia took his shirt off and offered it to one of the players on Team Silverdart. His act started a trend of exchanging shirts between all the participants! Within moments, most of the men were stripping off their shirts and tossing them to guys on the other team. Stowe remarked, “The atmosphere and comradery was greater than any other experience I have been a part of.” Team Silverdart invited the ADA to come over to play in a tournament that they will be hosting in the near future. Stay tuned to www.adadarters.com for updates as the relationship between the ADA & Spain continues!
