On Saturday, September 28th, ADA President, Glenn Remick was inducted into the National Darts Hall of Fame. Founder and darts promoter, Jim Poliquin, reports over 140 players, promoters, organizers, sponsors, and youth have been inducted into the National Darts Hall of Fame since it was founded in 1987.
Glenn entered into the sport of darts as a teen-ager in 1969. As a construction welder he traveled extensively, playing darts in many areas of the country. In 1977 he entered into the sport of darts full-time. "I opened the 301 Dart Shop located at 301 Appleton St. in Holyoke, Massachusetts on October 23rd, 1977 and took over as President of the Western Ma. Darting Association (WMDA) that same year." The WMDA grew from 16 members and 2 pubs to 1100 members, 202 teams and 237 pubs in less than 5 years! In 1980, he founded the New England Darts Tournament Organization directing the largest tournaments in the northeast. In 1983, he was Captain of a select US team that toured England for two weeks challenging English teams. Two years later, Remick was elected Captain of the US World Cup Team and lead them to a second place finish (the best finish ever recorded by a US team) in Brisbane, Australia.
In the political arena, Glenn served on the Board of the American Darts Organization finishing his tenure as President. He also served on the Board of the National Dart Association (NDA). In 1990, he founded the American Darters Association. "It's been a wonderful career, one I wouldn't trade for anything. It doesn't seem possible I've been full-time in darts for 25 years! Darters are the best people in the world and it is because of them I continued my career in darts. It is truly an honor to be inducted into the National Darts Hall of Fame."
The induction took place at the annual National Hall of Darts Fame tournament held September 27-28-29 in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
