In July of last year, in Las Vegas, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) staged one of the largest darts tournament ever held on US soil and what a show it was! During the event I met with Tim Darby, the PDC Chief Executive Officer, to discuss developing projects that will ultimately bring professional darts to ADA members. I’m pleased to report we tentatively agreed on a number of programs that could potentially qualify ADA members for PDC international competitions as early as 2004!
Darby commented on the news that the two organization would be joining forces saying, "We believe the American Dart League, with its points per dart ranking system, is second to none in the United States and will bring to PDC events the respect American darters deserve. In addition, their bar coded Event Management System is what our sport of darts requires to move forward into the 21st century."
With the PDC sponsorship and television contracts, there is little doubt an alliance between our organizations will bring to darts the respect we all believe it deserves. I look forward to providing you an update in future issues of BEN.
