American Dart League News...
New Orleans Fall Season Tournament

Members of the American Dart League in the New Orleans area enjoyed their season end tournament on January 16-17, 2004. The event was hosted by Roy “Root Beer” Hyer at Canal Bank Inn in Westwego, Louisiana and sponsored by Michelob Amberbock. Tournament events were managed by American Darters Association Representatives Larry & Stella Bordlee. Members qualified for this event through weekly league participation in the Fall 2003 season of the American Dart League. A record 95% of the league members attended the weekend events.

The event kicked off Friday night with the Blind Draw Doubles. Competition was tough as the steel tip darters competed in the ADA’s Neutralizer® handicap system which equalizes play for all skill levels. At the end of the evening, the team of Anthony Burns and Cory Porter took first place honors. Then it was time to rest up and get ready for the Blind Draw Triples, scheduled for Saturday night.

The Neutralizer® competition was no less on Saturday night for the members playing. Great darts were thrown by all as 3-person teams battled hard through the bracket until finally one team was left standing to claim the prizes and awards, the team of Joe De Lagardele, Mike Hano and Mike Balser.

Even though there was a winning team each night, almost everyone went home a winner as prizes were distributed, including division trophies, awards and player achievements from league play.  Michelob Amberbock provided prizes that were distributed throughout the night. Everyone enjoy the weekend of good darts and friendly competition.

Special thanks to Roy Hyer and the staff at the Canal Bank Inn; a great place for food, entertainment and darts almost any night of the week. Also thanks to the folks at Anheuser-Busch and Michelob Amberbock for their support and sponsorship.
