ADA National Championship
 

 

The historic 13th National Championship is just around the corner and the excitement grows! Historic? Yes, as it will be the first national championship in the history of darts where both soft and steel tip darts are electronically scored by coin-operated dart machines! The pre-registration and qualification process is complete and over 1000 members and guests will attend the event held at the beautiful Riviera Hotel and Casino July 22-25. Sponsored by Michelob AmberBock and Coca-Cola, ADA members will compete for $75,000 in prize money plus awards in Open and Neutralizer events.

Glenn Remick, ADA President will attend, “This Championship is the ADA social event of the year and sets the stage for bragging rights to determine who are the best darts players from the American Dart League.” There are a several additions and modifications to the Championship. A cricket singles “warm-up” has been added and will take place on Wednesday night. The popular Mixed Doubles with Mixed Triples on Friday, All singles events have been moved to Sunday. Selected seeded rounds and all finals will take place in the Championship room complete with tiered seating so all participants will have a clear view of the action.

The ADA National Championship is the only championship that “seeds” top darters from national league play into the singles events. These seeded members have the privilege of their own lounge complete with warm-up boards, snacks and complimentary AmberBock beer and Coca-Cola. The annual Military Cup Challenge is an important part of the Championship and returns with Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps teams competing to determine who are best darts players in the Armed Forces. “With the current worldwide unrest we are proud to bring this competition to our service men and women”, adds Remick. An all services contingent will present the old glory at the Opening Ceremonies on Thursday morning.

Prior to the Championship (July 19-21) ADA Representatives will assemble for the annual National ADA Franchisee Convention. This meeting is the business side of the ADA where a review of the past year and activities for the upcoming year are introduced. Remick and GM Mike Wiestling conduct the meeting, “It has been a great year for the ADA and next year promises to be even more exciting. Our Representatives and League Operators continue to do an outstanding job managing year-round ADA activities for our members. We’ ll be introducing several new programs at the convention as we look forward to another great year for the ADA and our sport of darts.
