Where could you find a better place to play darts than in America’s over 6,000 bowling centers?
“Our sport is increasingly found in the game rooms and lounges of bowling centers across America,” said ADA President Glenn Remick. “It’s a terrific family environment and we’re setting up in-house dart leagues in more and more centers. Darts and bowling complement each other perfectly. They’re both seasonal league sports for team players. Both sports utilize the same hand-eye coordination; and game play is based on strategic shooting. They’re both supported by a structure of local, regional, and national tournaments. And they’re both a great way to enjoy a night - or a summer, or a fall - of fun and socializing.”
For these reasons, America’s 52 million bowlers are obvious candidates to join our great sport of darts. And, adding darts to bowling centers brings in darters who can become enthusiastic bowlers, discovering a whole new world of fun and competition.
To keep this happy synergy going, ADA took a booth at the International Bowl Expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center from June 30 to July 2. “Our booth was right next to Anheuser-Busch and we had a steady stream of Expo attendees,” said Glenn Remick. “I was pleasantly surprised by the large number of centers with darts in their lounges. However, only a small percentage were involved with leagues. A large number were unaware that leagues were an option!”
“During the Expo we ran a series of contests for the bowling proprietors to demonstrate the power of organized promotions and they absolutely loved it. Once they tossed a few rounds of darts, the light bulb comes on and they realize: ‘My customers would be naturals for this!’”
Look for more ADA darts, coming soon to your local bowling center!
