For many of us it’s okay to whistle while we work… but what about playing darts?
In the course of 36 years playing and 28 years promoting our sport I have encountered many darters who have the privilege and opportunity of playing darts at work. Granted they cannot play 40 hours a week (some work has to get accomplished!) but hundreds, if not thousands look forward to break and lunch times to toss games within the 8 hour confines of their work place.
Personally I have countless memories of playing darts at work….during lunch building an underground hydro-electric plant….as a retailer at the 301 Dart Shop (located at 301 Appleton St. in Holyoke, MA) and in my travels through 46 states as Director of Marketing for Merit Industries, manufacturer of the Scorpion Dart machine. My fondest memories… taking challenges from ADA members in the “Beat the Prez” contests during our Regional & National Championships over the past 12 years (hey, I was working!).
So, how about you? Who plays darts during the workday? The rules are simple, if you toss darts sometime during working hours send me your name, address, phone number and a photo of you and the dartboard. On February 15th the ADA will draw one entrant by random. The winner receives a Michelob AmberBock walnut backboard, custom AmberBock bristle dartboard, AmberBock darts, a one-year subscription to Bull’s-Eye News and a 2005 ADA annual membership!
I’ll contact the winner to interview you and your boss for the web site and the next issue of Bull’s-Eye News! Forward the above to ADA headquarters: ADA 1000 Lake St. Louis Blvd. Lake St. Louis, MO 63367 no later than February 10th. Good luck!
