On April 25-30, 2005 the St. Charles County Golden Games held their annual local chapter games of the Missouri Senior Olympics. It was my pleasure to assist as Event Coordinator for the Electronics Darts event on Friday, April 29th. This event is always fun to direct as although the competition is intense, so many of the competitors are friends and makes for a light hearted time. Each participant must be a minimum of 50 years old to be eligible. They gathered at Planet 8-Ball in St. Peters, MO, which is also the host for the 8-Ball Event, to play on their Valley Cougar dart machines. Participants are grouped together based on 5 year age categories to compete in a game of High Score throwing 10 rounds of darts with the highest score in each age group earning the gold medal.
The medal winners qualify for the Missouri State Games held annually in Columbia, MO to compete against winners from other chapters across the state. State winners in events can become eligible to compete in the National Senior Olympics held every two years.
