ADA Approved Locations

After months of planning and development the ADA announced its "Approved Location" program will be unveiled at the 14th National Championship in August.  "This is another milestone for the ADA and our sport of darts", reports ADA President, Glenn Remick. "The framework actually started last year at the 2004 annual ADA National Franchisee Convention in Las Vegas."  Attending Franchisees agreed a standard for playing darts throughout the American Dart League was needed.

Aside from the uniformed height and throwing distance there is little information for host locations to set up a uniformed darts area.  Proper placement of a dart machine or a bristle dartboard plays an important role in how long members and guests play darts. It is also critical to building a casual customer base for non-league players in a tavern.

A committee of five ADA Franchisees developed this program.  Meeting every Sunday via teleconference, they developed a "criteria for certification" based on several factors ranging from equipment, lighting, the playing area, and availability.  They worked hard and are very dedicated to making this program a success."

The Approved Location criteria provides a 'blueprint' for establishment owners who want the best conditions for ADA members and their customers. A clinic at this years Convention will train Franchisees to consult owners in properly selecting the best location for our sport.

Under the supervision of Franchisees ADA Division Representatives (DR) will be responsible for "certifying" locations issuing a certification sticker with a "window cling" proclaiming the "ADA Approved" status.   In addition each certified location will be identified on the web site. A link outlining the criteria will also be added.
