While the Summer heat in some parts of the country slows dart league activities, the American Dart League in New Orleans has a very busy and fun month of June. Starting off the activities with the Spring Fling II held on June 10 – 12, 2005 at Phil's Lounge in Harvey, LA. This ADA member only “no entry fee” event is open to eligible members that participated in the Spring sessions of the American Dart League.
The weekend event started with the Blind Draw Doubles on Friday Night at 7:30 pm. After competing through many rounds, the final match concluded at 2:30 am with Renald Lewis and Bradley Hogan emerging victoriously. This just was the being for a weekend full of fun. Members returned after a good nights rest to get ready for the Draw Triples Cricket that started on Saturday. Beverly Domigue who always says “Oh … I’m no good at playing darts. I just play for fun!” drew Mike Leco and Teddy Maury, both new members completing their first season in the American Dart League. Well for a member that doesn't think sh e shoots darts that well she proved to all she’s better than she thought by taking first place for the Draw Triples Cricket event. This just goes to prove the ADA Neutralizer gives all members a chance to win, regardless of ability. The Sunday event was set for the new Open Division in the New Orleans area American Dart League. The events started 4:00 pm and competition last for over 5 hours. Lee Leblanc and Chuckie Graf IV captured the Open title for this Spring Fling II event. With the American Darters Association Professional Darters program adding prestige and status to those highly skilled members we expect the Open format divisions to grow in the upcoming Fall 2005 and Spring 2006 sessions as new darters join the ADA in New Orleans.
As if that weekend wasn’t enough fun and darts, the Seafood Bash was held the following Saturday June 18th also at Phil's Lounge. This event becomes much more than a dart tournament. It’s a fun feast and party for dart players throughout the New Orle ans area. When not enjoying the fun and the food including boiled shrimp, crabs and fried fish, the darters actually competed in the a Doubles event. Donnie Kelsey and Raynel Moody teamed up to take the top honors in the Seafood Bash Tournament. Good thing they didn’t tire themselves out eating those crabs!
Both of these fun events were hosted by ADA Representatives Larry and Stella Bordlee. Special thanks to Phil's staff for hosting and cooking for these events. Phil's outstanding team just won First Place in a Crawfish boiling cook off last month in New Orleans so you know the food was great! We would also like to thank our sponsors at Michelob AmberBock and Jerry Peters from Southern Eagle Distributing for the AmberBock prizes given away at these two events.
