 Phoenix, Arizona the valley of the sun and host to the ADA’s Southwest Regional Championship. The temperature was not the only hot element (over 100 degrees) the darts action was even hotter! Phoenix has some of the best darters in the country and we look forward to seeing their names added to the top fifty lists soon!
Sponsored by Anheuser-Busch’s (AB) Michelob AmberBock beer, this Regional was like no  other as we split up the soft and steel tip events, playing the soft tip on Saturday and steel tip on Sunday. The format was the Express League (race to 6) followed by a cricket draw doubles. The soft tip events were held at Metro Sportz, a huge sports bar located on the west side. Sunday was steel tip and hosted at Six Shooters, another large sport bar on the west side. (The sports bars in Phoenix are huge!) The event was limited only to the Express League format.
 Our new southwest ADA members received flights, shirts and AmberBock pint glasses compliments of Hensley Company, AB’s local wholesaler. Random draws for AmberBock darts and annual subscriptions to Bull’s-Eye News were also held throughout the day.
The “Valley of the Sun” is a great area for darts. It has three dart shops, three newspapers dedicated to darts, hundreds of locations with darts, and tons of both steel and soft tip darters. In spite of the fact the ADA does not operate in this market we were welcomed and supported. With the support of our new League Manager, Jimmy Damore, we look forward to expanding the American Dart League to this new market this fall.
