FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I register my team for the National Championship?
A: On-line at the ADA Web Site. Registration deadline: May 15, 2004.
The captain of your team must have Internet access with an email address. After filling out and submitting the on-line registration form you will be directed to a certification statement web page. This page must be printed out, signed by all team members, and mailed directly to the ADA office no later than May 24, 2004. Entry fees will be paid online using Visa or Master Card or can be mailed with the above certification page in the form of a money order made payable to the "American Darters Association". If none of your team members have Internet access, contact your ADA Representative or League Operator for assistance.

Q: I am sharing a room at the Riviera Hotel & Casino with someone from another team, can both our teams get credit for the room to qualify for the National Championship?
A: NO. Each team must have their own guest room in the ADA block of rooms for 3 nights during the National Championship to qualify (except local teams from the Las Vegas area). See addendum in the eligibility rules.

Q: I play on a 6 person Neutralizer® team in local league, and only 5 of us want to go. What do we do?
A: A minimum of 4 members is required for the Team League format. Check the Opening Roster Rule (ORR) to verify your 5-person team is eligible.
Your team PPDA total must be at or below:
     * 6 members - 114 for soft-tip and 96 for steel-tip
     * 5 members - 95 for soft-tip and 80 for steel-tip
     * 4 members - 76 for soft-tip and 64 for steel-tip.

Q: I play on a Neutralizer® team. What PPDA will I be using at the National Championship?
A: The highest average from the following categories:
  -Season ending average for current League year (Summer 2003, Fall 2003, Spring 2004).
  -Last year's ending National Championship PPDA.
  -American Darters Association Regional Championships ending PPDA for the current League year preceding the National Championship.
  -The ADA also takes under advisement any local League Management and National Skill Level Review Board recommendations.
  -Finally, the ADA has the authority to adjust a member's average. Once all review steps are completed, you will receive an acceptance letter, verifying you and your team members' starting PPDA's.

Q: Our Neutralizer® team exceeds the Opening Roster Rule.  Are we ineligible?
A: Yes, but only for the Neutralizer® Team event, however your team may still be eligible to compete in the Open format team event.

Q: One of our Express League team members can't attend the National Championship; can we use a "sub" from our league?
A: No. Each member MUST have been on the official team roster during the league season. "Subs" are not allowed. Each team member must meet the required eligibility as outlined in the ADA League Rules Manual.

Q: My team cannot come to the National Championship. Can I participate in any of the non-team events if I am not on a qualified team?
A: The National Championship is a Team Championship. Only members from ADA leagues who are registered on a team that plays can compete in the following events:
         Men's and Women's Singles
         Men's and Women's Doubles
         Mixed Triples.
ADA members or individual members not registered on a team can compete in Friday's & Saturday's Draw Doubles. Additional "satellite" draw doubles held through out the Championship are also open to all ADA members. Non-ADA members must purchase an ADA membership to participate in the Open format draw doubles and any satellite draw doubles.

Q: My League Team is unable to attend the National Championship, however some friends from other teams and I want to attend and compete, Is there any way?
A: Yes. 4 to 6 eligible ADA members (see the eligibility rules) can "construct" a Team League format team for the National Championship, however they must compete in the Open format for ALL events, including singles, doubles and mixed triples, regardless of their Neutralizer® PPDA.

Q: I play on a Neutralizer team in my local League, but am registering for the National Championship on an Open format team. Can I play in Neutralizer® non-team events?
A: No. Only members on Neutralizer® teams registered from league play for the National Championship would be eligible to enter Neutralizer® events. If your Neutralizer team exceeds the ORR, you may still choose Neutralizer format for your non-team events.

Q: If we go to the National Championship as a 4-person team and one of our members is a no-show, can we still compete in the team event?
A: No. You must have a minimum of 4 members that meet the qualifications for the Team League format. Remember that the National Championship is a Team Championship.

Q: If we submit our team entry with 5 members and later we find out one of them cannot attend, what do we do?
A: Contact your ADA Representative or the ADA immediately.  Roster changes requested and submitted in writing by June 24th will be re-qualified under the original format.  All changes after June 24th will automatically place the team in the Open Format division. (see addendum in the eligibility rules web page)

Q: Acceptance of our pre-registration gets us into the Team event and Singles events. When do we register for the other events?
A: Registration for each event, with the exception of the Team event and Singles, will begin on Thursday and conclude on Saturday. We suggest you register for all events upon arrival.

Q: Do I need my ADA membership card?
A: YES You MUST have your 2004 bar-coded ADA membership card AND one valid form of photo identification to register, participate and collect winnings in the Championship events. The bar-coded membership card will be used for registration/payout to help to streamline the Championship process.

Q: Do I have to supply my Social Security Number on the Entry Form?
A: Yes. No entry will be accepted if it is not complete. The Social Security Number will be used ONLY for 1099 reporting in accordance with the Internal Revenue Service regulations for prize money paid.

Q: My team played in the Advanced Neutralizer format, can we participate in the Neutralizer events?
A: No. Teams from an Advanced Neutralizer division must play in the Open format for ALL events. Should the Advanced Neutralizer format increase to include more teams from league play, special Advanced Neutralizer events may be included in future National Championships.

Q: I play on a Neutralizer Express League team that has registered for the National Championship; can I play Neutralizer in non-team events and be eligible to be seeded for singles?
A: Yes. Only members from Neutralizer teams, either Team League or Express League can compete in Neutralizer non-team events.

Q: I play in both Neutralizer and Open formats in my local league and have registered for the National Championship with my Neutralizer team, can I play Open format in non-team events and be eligible to be seeded for singles?
A: Yes. On your team registration form each member chooses his or her non-team event format. Simply select the Open format for all your non-team events.
